The AbingTones performed over the weekend to compete in the International Competition for Collegiate A Cappella. While the students did not place to continue on in the tournament, their energy, poise, and talent represented our campus in the best manner possible. The campus is extremely proud of how far they have come since their start in 2010.
Ten groups, including the AbingTones, competed for the mid-Atlantic quarterfinals of the International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella. Three of those groups were composed of Penn State students, but the AbingTones were the only one from outside of University Park. The AbingTones are led by director, Stephanie O’Dea Yoder, who teaches integrative arts and music at Penn State Abington.
The group has sung the National Anthem for the Philadelphia Phillies, the Philadelphia 76ers, and performed a lunch concert at Philadelphia’s Reading Terminal Market. You may have also seen them at many Penn State Abington Alumni events! Their final concert of the year will be held on Thursday, May 1st at 7:30PM!
